About This Drink
Dragons Blood 7 Fizz Soda

The Dragons Blood 7 Fizz Soda is 7 Brew's caffeine-free sparkling soda built on blue raspberry and cherry syrups poured over ice and topped with carbonated water, delivering a bright red-purple, candy-shop flavor for 20 calories in the Kids 10oz size and 120 calories in the Large 32oz. Every size contains 0mg of caffeine, which makes it one of the few drinks on the 7 Brew menu that a kid, a pregnant customer, or anyone cutting caffeine can order without a second thought.

7 Brew is a drive-thru-only chain that started in Rogers, Arkansas, and while the brand is best known for espresso creations like the Brunette and Blondie, the 7 Fizz line quietly became the go-to for afternoon crews who want fizz instead of coffee. The build is simple and made in front of you: a cup packed with ice, measured pumps of flavor syrup at the bottom, then unflavored sparkling water poured over the top and given a quick stir so the syrup ribbons up through the bubbles. There is no juice, no dairy, and no cream unless you specifically ask for it, which is why the allergen column reads None across all four sizes.

Dragons Blood is a flavor borrowed from the shaved ice and snow cone world, where it traditionally means a blend of blue raspberry and cherry. At 7 Brew it lands as a sweet-tart red soda that tastes like a cherry ICEE crossed with a blue raspberry slush, without the brain freeze. It is worth knowing that the same Dragons Blood syrup combo also shows up on the lemonade side of the menu, so if you order by flavor name alone the crew will ask whether you want it as a Fizz or a lemonade. The Fizz version is lighter, drier and more carbonated; the lemonade version is tangier and higher in sugar. If you want the version that tastes closest to a bottled cherry-berry soda, the Fizz is the one to ask for.

TASTE

What Does the 7 Brew Dragons Blood 7 Fizz Soda Taste Like?

The first thing you notice is the smell, which hits before the straw does - a sweet, slightly artificial cherry-candy aroma with a sharp berry edge, like opening a bag of blue raspberry sour belts next to a jar of maraschino cherries. Visually it pours a deep magenta-red that sometimes shows purple streaks near the bottom before the stir fully mixes.

The first sip leads with cherry. It is candy cherry rather than fresh Bing cherry - rounded, syrupy sweet, with that faint almond-like note that cherry flavoring always carries. About halfway through the swallow the blue raspberry kicks in and completely changes direction: tarter, brighter, a little pucker on the sides of the tongue. That handoff from round cherry to sharp raspberry is what keeps the drink from tasting flat, and it is the reason people describe it as more interesting than a standard cherry soda.

Texture is where the Fizz format earns its place. The carbonation at 7 Brew is aggressive right after it is poured, so early sips are prickly and scrubbing, and the bubbles cut the sweetness noticeably. As the ice melts over 15 to 20 minutes the drink softens, gets slightly more diluted, and the raspberry tartness dominates over the cherry.

The finish is clean and short. Because there is no dairy and no acid from citrus, you are not left with any coating or film - just a light sweet berry note that fades in about ten seconds. That clean finish is exactly why this pairs well with food.

INGREDIENTS

What's Actually in the 7 Brew Dragons Blood 7 Fizz Soda?

Blue Raspberry Syrup A sweet-tart blue candy-berry flavoring that provides the sharp, puckering back half of the flavor. Sugar-free version available on request.
Cherry Syrup Maraschino-style cherry flavoring that carries the rounded, candy-sweet front note and gives the drink its red color when combined with the blue raspberry.
Sparkling Water Unflavored carbonated water poured over the syrups - this is the entire liquid base, so there is no juice, dairy, tea or coffee in the drink.
Ice Packed to roughly the top of the cup before the syrup goes in, which keeps carbonation lively and dilutes the drink gradually as it melts.

Ingredients may vary by location. Always confirm with your barista.

First Time?

How to Order the Dragons Blood 7 Fizz Soda for the First Time

If this is your first Dragons Blood Fizz, order a Small 16oz for $3.50 before committing to a Large. Candy-forward flavors are polarizing, and 16oz is enough to know within four sips whether the blue raspberry tartness works for you.

Ask two questions at the speaker: confirm you want the Fizz and not the lemonade version, and decide up front on sweetness. Standard sweetness is genuinely sweet - if you normally find sodas too sugary, order it half-sweet, which takes a Medium from 20g of sugar to about 10g and lets the carbonation do more of the work.

Drink it fast, at least relative to a coffee. This drink peaks in the first 15 to 20 minutes while the carbonation is at its sharpest. If you tend to nurse a drink for an hour, ask for light ice so the dilution curve is gentler, or accept that the last third will taste like mild berry water.

One more tip for first-timers: if you like it but wish it were richer, come back and order it with a splash of half-and-half. That single modification turns it into a cherry cream soda and is the most common upgrade regulars make, at a cost of roughly 40 to 60 extra calories.

Pro tip: Don't be afraid to ask your brewista for recommendations — they love helping first-timers!

How to get a drink similar to the Dragons Blood 7 Fizz Soda at other coffee chains

Similar flavored espresso drink
How to Order

Starbucks does not sell carbonated sodas, so there is no direct match. The nearest approximation is a Grande Iced Passion Tango Tea Lemonade with two pumps raspberry, which gets you a tart red fruit drink but with zero carbonation and a small amount of natural caffeine from the hibiscus blend.

Key Difference

Low. Starbucks discontinued its sparkling beverage line years ago, so you cannot get a fizzy candy-berry soda there at all. Refreshers are also non-carbonated and contain green coffee extract caffeine, which defeats the purpose if you chose the Fizz specifically to avoid caffeine.

Similar flavored drink
How to Order

Order a Medium Dutch Soda and ask for blue raspberry and cherry, no cream on top. Dutch Bros does not have a named Dragons Blood soda, so you have to build it by flavor.

Key Difference

Very close - Dutch Sodas use the same sparkling water plus flavor syrup format. Dutch Bros pours theirs with a heavier syrup hand and typically offers a cream top, so the default version can taste sweeter and richer than the 7 Brew Fizz.

7 Brew Large (32oz): $5.00 or $0.156 per ounce, versus a Starbucks Venti (24oz) Passion Tango Tea Lemonade at roughly $5.45 or $0.227 per ounce. You get 8 more ounces for about $0.45 less at 7 Brew.

Best Time to Enjoy

The strongest case for this drink is any time you want a beverage but do not want caffeine. Because it is 0mg across every size, a Large Dragons Blood Fizz at 8pm will not touch your sleep the way a Medium cold brew at 335mg absolutely would. Mid-afternoon is the sweet spot. The 2pm to 4pm window is when most people reach for a second coffee they do not actually need, and 80 calories of cold carbonation does the same job of resetting your palate and waking you up through sensation rather than stimulants.

I stopped drinking coffee in the afternoons and the Dragons Blood Fizz is what saved me. It tastes exactly like the dragons blood snow cone I got as a kid at the county fair but carbonated. A Medium is only 80 calories which is wild compared to what I used to spend on a latte. My go-to order now is a Large half-sweet with light ice.

Tyler Brennan1 month ago

Solid pick and the fact that it has zero caffeine means I can grab one at 8pm and still sleep. Only knock is that the carbonation fades pretty fast once the ice melts, so by the last third of a Large it is more like sweet berry water. Drink it within twenty minutes and it is great.

Dana Whitfield2 months ago

Went in expecting something like a craft cherry soda and it is much more candy-forward than that. My teenager loved it, I found the blue raspberry a little sharp and artificial for my taste. Ordered it half-sweet the second time and liked it a lot more, but I will probably stick with the Georgia Peach Fizz.

How to Make the Dragons Blood 7 Fizz Soda at Home

5 minutes
Ingredients
  • 1 oz (2 tablespoons) Torani Blue Raspberry syrup
  • 0.75 oz (1.5 tablespoons) Torani Cherry syrup, or Monin Cherry for a slightly less candy-sweet version
  • 10 to 12 oz cold unflavored sparkling water - Topo Chico for aggressive bubbles, Waterloo Unflavored or Polar Seltzer for a softer fizz
  • Ice, packed to the top of a 16oz cup
  • Optional: 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice to sharpen it, or 1 oz half-and-half for a dirty-soda version
Instructions
1

Fill a 16oz cup completely with ice - packing it fully is what keeps the carbonation from going flat as fast.

2

Pour the 1 oz of Torani Blue Raspberry and 0.75 oz of Torani Cherry directly over the ice. Adding syrup first means less stirring later, which preserves bubbles.

3

Slowly pour 10 to 12 oz of cold sparkling water down the inside wall of the cup at an angle. Pouring straight down the middle blows out roughly a third of the carbonation.

4

Give it one single gentle stir from the bottom up with a straw. Two or three stirs is already too many.

5

Taste and adjust: add another 0.25 oz cherry if you want it rounder and sweeter, or 0.5 oz lemon juice if you want the tart edge to pop. Drink within 20 minutes for best fizz.

Lighter Version

Use sugar-free syrups and skip whipped cream to save 100-150 calories.

FAQ

Common Questions

How many calories are in a 7 Brew Dragons Blood 7 Fizz Soda?
The Dragons Blood 7 Fizz Soda has 20 calories in the Kids 10oz, 40 calories in the Small 16oz, 80 calories in the Medium 24oz, and 120 calories in the Large 32oz. Every calorie comes from the blue raspberry and cherry flavor syrups, since the base is just unflavored sparkling water and ice - there is no fat and no protein in any size. Sugar tracks one to one with carbs at 5g, 10g, 20g and 30g respectively. Ordering half-sweet cuts those numbers roughly in half, and swapping to sugar-free blue raspberry and sugar-free cherry brings a Large down to near zero calories.
Does the Dragons Blood 7 Fizz Soda have caffeine?
No. The Dragons Blood 7 Fizz Soda contains 0mg of caffeine in all four sizes, including the Large 32oz. Unlike a lot of commercial sodas, the entire 7 Fizz line at 7 Brew is built on unflavored sparkling water plus flavor syrups, with no cola extract, no guarana, no tea and no coffee involved. That makes it a legitimate option for late-night orders, for people avoiding caffeine for medical reasons, and for kids. If you want caffeine with a similar fruit profile, you would need to order it as a 7 Energy instead, which runs roughly 150 to 300mg.
What does Dragons Blood taste like at 7 Brew?
Dragons Blood is a shaved ice and snow cone flavor that combines blue raspberry and cherry. At 7 Brew it tastes like a cherry ICEE with a tart blue raspberry finish - candy-sweet and rounded up front, then noticeably sharper and more puckering on the back end. In the Fizz format the carbonation cuts a lot of the sweetness, so it drinks drier and crisper than the same flavor served as a lemonade. It is not a fresh-fruit flavor and it is not trying to be; think classic fair-food candy soda.
Is the 7 Brew Dragons Blood Fizz dairy-free and vegan?
Yes, as ordered standard the Dragons Blood 7 Fizz Soda is dairy-free and vegan. The listed allergens are None across all four sizes because the drink contains only flavor syrups, carbonated water and ice. It is also nut-free and fat-free. The one thing to watch is customization: if you add a splash of half-and-half or a cream top for a dirty-soda style drink, you introduce Milk as an allergen. Ask for oat or almond milk instead if you want that creamy effect without dairy.
How much does a Dragons Blood 7 Fizz Soda cost at 7 Brew?
Pricing is $2.00 for the Kids 10oz, $3.50 for the Small 16oz, $4.25 for the Medium 24oz, and $5.00 for the Large 32oz. That works out to about $0.219 per ounce for a Small, $0.177 per ounce for a Medium, and $0.156 per ounce for a Large, which makes the Large the clear value pick if you plan to drink it over an hour. Prices vary slightly by location since many 7 Brew stands are franchised, so treat these as the common range rather than a fixed national price.
