At a glance
A plain-English summary. It is a convenience only. The full text below is what governs.
- We set almost nothing ourselves. Our own tools use browser local storage, which stays on your device and is never sent to us.
- The cookies that do run are third-party, Google AdSense for advertising and our analytics provider for audience measurement.
- Nothing non-essential runs before consent in the UK, EEA and other consent jurisdictions.
- Blocking every cookie still leaves the site fully usable. Every guide, table and calculator keeps working.
- We honour Global Privacy Control as a valid opt-out signal.
What cookies and similar technologies are #
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. On your next visit, the browser sends it back, which is how a site can remember a preference or an advertising network can recognise a returning browser. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are first-party; cookies set by another company whose code runs on the page are third-party.
Several related technologies appear on this site or others, and it is worth distinguishing them:
- localStorage
- A browser storage area that holds data on your device with no expiry until you clear it. Unlike a cookie, it is never automatically transmitted with requests. This is what our tools use.
- sessionStorage
- The same idea, but wiped when you close the tab.
- Pixel tags / web beacons
- Tiny transparent images or scripts used to register that a page or ad was loaded. Advertising and analytics providers use these alongside cookies.
- Device fingerprinting
- Inferring an identity from device characteristics rather than stored files. We do not use fingerprinting and do not permit it for our own purposes.
This policy covers all of the above. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains the wider picture of what happens to information on this site.
The categories we use #
| Category | Who sets it | Consent needed? | Can you refuse? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Us / our hosting & CDN provider | No. Exempt by law | Not without breaking delivery |
| Functional (local storage) | Us, stored on your device only | No. Never leaves your browser | Yes, clear site data any time |
| Analytics & measurement | Third-party analytics provider | Yes, in consent jurisdictions | Yes. Site is unaffected |
| Advertising | Google AdSense & certified partners | Yes, in consent jurisdictions | Yes. You will still see ads, just non-personalised |
Sections 3 to 6 break each category down in detail.
Strictly necessary cookies #
These make the site work and keep it secure. They carry no marketing function and, under both the UK/EU ePrivacy rules and comparable US state provisions, they are exempt from consent because without them the service you requested cannot be delivered.
| Purpose | Set by | Typical lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Load balancing and routing your request to a healthy server | Hosting / CDN provider | Session |
| Bot filtering, rate limiting and DDoS mitigation | CDN provider | Session to 30 days |
| Remembering your cookie-consent choice so you are not asked repeatedly | Consent management layer | Up to 12 months |
| Basic security integrity checks on requests | CDN provider | Session |
Names and lifetimes are set by our infrastructure providers and can change when they update their platforms; the purposes above do not.
Functional storage. The keys our own tools write #
This is the only category we control directly, and it never leaves your device.
Our interactive features save your work in localStorage so that a refresh does not
wipe your drink log. That data is written by our page, read by our page, and stored in your
browser profile. It is not transmitted to us, and we have no way to retrieve it.
| Key | What it holds | Set by | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
7brew-daily-tracker | The drinks you have added to your daily log, with the sizes and customisations you chose, so totals persist across a session. | Drink customiser | Until you clear site data |
7brew-dietary-filters | Which dietary and allergen filters you switched on, so you do not have to re-apply them on every visit. | Drink customiser / allergen guide | Until you clear site data |
Nothing here identifies you. There is no name, email, account ID or device identifier in these keys. Only drink selections and filter toggles. Our calorie calculator holds its working state in memory for the duration of your visit and does not write a persistent key.
To erase this data, clear site data for our domain in your browser settings, or use private browsing, which discards it when you close the window. Because it is tied to one browser profile on one device, a log built on your phone will not appear on your laptop.
Analytics and measurement cookies #
We use a third-party web analytics service to understand aggregate behaviour: which pages are read, how long people stay, what they arrived from, and where they give up. It is how we learn that a comparison table needs rewriting or a city page is missing the stand people wanted.
| Purpose | Set by | Typical lifetime | Data involved |
|---|---|---|---|
| Distinguishing one browser from another so visits are not double-counted | Analytics provider (third party) | Up to 24 months | Pseudonymous identifier |
| Session grouping and traffic-source attribution | Analytics provider (third party) | Session to 24 months | Referrer, campaign parameters |
| Page, scroll and tool-interaction events | Analytics provider (third party) | Event-based | Page URL, coarse location, device type |
We view these reports in aggregate, at page and segment level rather than individual level, and we never send personal identifiers such as email addresses into analytics. If you use a Google Analytics-based measurement setup and want a permanent, site-wide opt-out, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on .
Advertising cookies #
Advertising is what makes this site free. We use Google AdSense, and Google may work with certified partners and exchanges to fill inventory. Those partners set their own cookies directly from your browser when an ad loads.
| Purpose | Set by | Typical lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Selecting which ad to serve, including personalised selection where consented | Google & certified partners | Up to 24 months |
| Frequency capping, so you are not shown the same creative repeatedly | Up to 24 months | |
| Measuring impressions, clicks and conversions for advertisers | Google & partners | Up to 24 months |
| Detecting invalid traffic and click fraud | Up to 24 months | |
| Storing your ad-consent preferences under the IAB TCF | Consent management layer | Up to 12 months |
These are third-party cookies. We do not read them, cannot delete them for you, and receive only aggregate reporting. Google's own policy for sites that use its services governs that data.
Where consent is refused or unavailable, Google serves non-personalised ads, which use contextual signals such as page content and coarse location rather than a behavioural profile. Non-personalised ads still require limited cookie use for frequency capping and fraud detection.
Consent, and how to change your mind #
In the United Kingdom, the EEA, Switzerland and other jurisdictions that require it, a consent prompt appears before any non-essential cookie is set. It is built on the IAB Europe Transparency & Consent Framework used by our advertising partner, and it lets you accept all, reject all, or choose by purpose and vendor.
- Rejecting is a real option. Every page and tool remains fully available; you simply see non-personalised ads.
- Your choice is remembered so you are not re-prompted on every page, then re-requested periodically as the framework requires.
- To change it later, clear cookies for our domain and reload. The prompt will reappear and you can choose again.
- Withdrawing consent stops future processing. It does not undo processing that already happened lawfully, and it does not delete cookies already on your device: clear those in your browser.
Outside consent jurisdictions, non-essential cookies may run on an opt-out basis. You can opt out at any time using the controls in sections 9 to 12, and nothing on this site is gated behind accepting them.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track #
Global Privacy Control (GPC) is a browser-level signal that tells every site you visit not to sell or share your personal information. We honour it: where GPC is present, we treat it as a valid opt-out of sale and of sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising under applicable US state laws, and we pass it to partners that support it.
GPC is built into browsers such as Firefox and Brave, and is available as an extension for others. Details at globalprivacycontrol.org.
The older Do Not Track header is not honoured consistently anywhere in the ad industry and no common standard for responding to it was ever agreed. We would rather tell you that than imply a protection that does not exist. Use GPC or the browser controls below instead.
Browser-by-browser controls #
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, either globally or for a single site. These paths are current at the date on this page; menus move occasionally.
- Google Chrome
- Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies (block third-party cookies here), and Settings → Privacy and security → Delete browsing data to clear existing ones. For this site only, click the icon left of the address bar → Cookies and site data.
- Safari (macOS)
- Safari → Settings → Privacy → tick "Prevent cross-site tracking", and Manage Website Data to remove stored data for a specific site. Intelligent Tracking Prevention is on by default.
- Safari (iOS / iPadOS)
- Settings → Apps → Safari → Prevent Cross-Site Tracking, then Advanced → Website Data to clear a single site.
- Mozilla Firefox
- Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection → choose Strict, and Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data for a single site. Firefox also offers Total Cookie Protection and GPC.
- Microsoft Edge
- Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Tracking prevention → Strict, and Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data.
- Brave
- Settings → Shields → set Trackers & ads blocking to Aggressive. Brave blocks most advertising and analytics cookies by default and sends GPC.
- Private / incognito windows
- Any browser's private mode discards cookies and local storage when you close the window, a quick way to visit without leaving anything behind.
Mobile device advertising controls #
If you browse on a phone or tablet, your operating system provides an additional advertising control that applies across apps and, in some cases, the browser:
- iOS / iPadOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and Apple Advertising → turn off Personalised Ads.
- Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → Delete advertising ID, or opt out of ads personalisation.
Industry opt-out tools #
These industry pages let you opt out of many participating advertising vendors at once:
- Google My Ad Center . Turn off ad personalisation across Google's services.
- optout.aboutads.info , Digital Advertising Alliance (US).
- optout.networkadvertising.org , Network Advertising Initiative (US).
- youradchoices.ca , AdChoices (Canada).
- youronlinechoices.eu , EDAA (Europe).
What happens if you block everything #
We designed the site so that this question has a boring answer. If you block every cookie and clear local storage:
| Feature | Still works? | Difference you will notice |
|---|---|---|
| Menu guides, prices, nutrition tables | Yes | None at all |
| Calorie calculator | Yes | None. It works in memory during your visit |
| Drink customiser | Yes | Your log and filters reset on reload instead of persisting |
| Allergen guide | Yes | Filters reset each visit |
| Store locator & maps | Yes | Map tiles come from a third party you may also be blocking |
| Advertising | Yes | Ads still appear, but non-personalised and less relevant |
| Consent prompt | Yes | It reappears each visit, since the record of your choice was cleared |
Nothing on this site is behind a cookie wall. Blocking cookies never costs you access to content.
Legal basis and your rights #
Strictly necessary cookies are set on the basis of our legitimate interest in delivering and securing the service you requested, and are exempt from consent requirements. Analytics and advertising cookies are set on the basis of consent where consent law applies, and may operate on an opt-out basis elsewhere.
Functional local storage is not a cookie in the regulatory sense and never transmits data to us; it remains entirely under your control on your own device.
Cookie identifiers can constitute personal data. Your rights over that data. Access, deletion, objection, withdrawal of consent, opt-out of sale or sharing, and appeal. Are set out in section 14 of our Privacy Policy, along with how to make a request.
Changes to this policy #
We update this page whenever we add, change or remove a technology that stores or reads data on your device, and we review it at least every six months. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version. Where a change requires fresh consent, we will ask for it rather than rely on a previous choice.
Questions about cookies #
If a cookie appears on our pages that is not described here, we want to know. That is either a documentation gap on our side or a change by a provider, and both are worth fixing. Send the cookie name and the page you saw it on and we will investigate.

Our Community Q&A and comment features use Supabase as a backend service. When you post a question, answer, or comment, your submission data (display name, optional email, content text) is stored in our Supabase database. A browser fingerprint hash is generated locally and stored to prevent duplicate voting — this is not a tracking cookie and cannot identify you across websites. No additional cookies are set by the community features beyond those already listed in this policy.
